The aircraft carrier flight deck is a major workplace for the carrier-based aircraft operations. When the carrier-based aircrafts catapult launch and recovery, intense noise produced by the high speed airflow seriously affects the physical health and working efficiency of flight deck personnel. The U.S. Navy has accumulated rich experience in noise protection, established stringent regulations and rules, developed a series of noise protective equipment during the long-term use of aircraft carriers. This paper expounds the distribution characteristics of the noise environment on the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier flight deck and its impact on health and working efficiency of flight deck personnel, analyses the noise protection measures for the personnel on the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier flight deck, and serves as a reference to the noise protection of the personnel on the China Navy aircraft carrier flight deck.
